Hamid Shokat was born in 1327 in Tehran. In 1346, he went to the United States. In the United States, he participated in the struggle against the Vietnam War and joined the left, becoming a member of the Iranian Students Organization in the United States and the World Confederation. Near the Revolution of 1978, he participated in the establishment of the National Democratic Front and for some time was a member of the editorial board of the Freedom Front.
