The newly hired mathematics teacher, Mohammad Algorithm, arrives nervously at his first lesson at a high school in Sweden. He is overqualified but at the same time insecure about his social status. He has with him his friend and companion, the donkey Almas, whom he lets graze outside the school. In flashbacks, the reader follows the teacher’s past, his algebra studies in India, and his interest in Hinduism. Author Mohsen Nekomanesh Fard (b. 1957) has written seven novels, two of which have been translated into Swedish. He uses his incredible imagination and humor to bring Mohammad’s story to life.
