Shirin, a twenty-four-year-old painter, learns of the horrific dimensions of the secret killing of several thousand political prisoners in the summer of 1988 while working to hold her first exhibition at the Khavaran Cultural Center. Gomgurha is a multi-layered narrative of Shirin’s thirty-six hours of life after encountering this crime.
